Who we are
Callow Parish Hall is the only public meeting place in the Group Parish of Callow and Haywood, which comprises the villages of Callow, Dewsall, Grafton, Haywood and parts of both Twyford and Bullinghope.
The Parish Hall, just over the road from St Mary’s Church, Callow, was originally the village school. When the school closed in 1953, a group of local farmers clubbed together and formed a committee to help raise the money from the parish to buy it for use as a meeting place.
The Parish Hall is run by a small committee of volunteers and hosts the meetings of the parish council and community broadband company (Herefordshire Community Networks), plus regular events including Christmas meals, Fish and Chips nights, quiz nights, barbeques, a barn Dance, social evenings, a birthday party for one of the the parish’s oldest residents, a lunch to celebrate the Coronation of HM King Charles III (The beautiful cockspur thorn in the grounds having been planted, incidentally, to celebrate the Silver Jubilee of the previous monarch HM Queen Elizabeth II), and next May a party to celebrate the 80th anniversary of VE Day.
These events are largely chosen based on feedback from a questionnaire delivered to parishioners in January 2023 and feedback collected at subsequent events. If you are interested in coming along to events – whether you are a parishioner or not (all are welcome!) – and have not already filled in the questionnaire, please do so by going to the Questionnaire page. You can join our contact email list and get advance notice of all our events.
There is a Defibrillator on the rear outside wall, complete with instructions.
The Parish Hall is well equipped and available for hire for events by members of the public or local businesses. All future events in the Parish Hall are shown on our events calendar here.
The Parish Hall is registered with the Charities Commission with Charity Number 520942.
The Hall’s address is Callow Parish Hall, Callow, Herefordshire HR2 8DD. The What3Words location of the entrance is ///plot.crowd.moons.
